Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation

Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation
DESCRIPTION
The Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation (MUC) is awarded to any unit that performs service or demonstrates achievement in a non-combat or combat situation that is clearly superior to the standard expected. This award is essential for recognizing the sustained, collective, superior performance of a major component of the unit (e.g., a specific Air Wing squadron, the IOG/ZEUS team, or the ground element) during a campaign or extended period. The MUC signifies collective superior execution and is the third-highest unit award CSG-12 can earn.
HISTORY
The Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation was established by the Secretary of the Navy in July 1967. It is awarded to recognize units for meritorious service or achievement that is clearly above the normal expected standard, but does not warrant the award of the Navy Unit Commendation (NUC). In the order of precedence, the MUC ranks immediately below the NUC and is worn before all campaign and service medals.
